Getting crowns and bridgework used to be a long process that required at least two visits to your dentist’s office, but thanks to modern technology, today’s dental patients have better options. In the past, crowns and prosthetic teeth were carefully custom-manufactured in specialty dental labs after dentists created molds and provided precise measurements, but this can all be done right in the dentist’s office now using the CEREC method.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC utilizes computer technology to quickly take impressions of your teeth and create your crowns or prosthetic teeth on the spot. This process offers a superior result to products created in dental labs because it uses digital impressions that are much more precise than traditional plastic ones.
Although not every dentist currently uses this method, we’re proud to say that Breese Dental Group offers CEREC to our patients as a part of our commitment to providing the best possible state-of-the-art dental care.
